Congrats to Anthony J (Tony) Batten

Tony and presenter, the Hon Michael Chan, Minister of Citizenship and Culture.

Not only is Tony an outstanding artist, but he has dedicated countless volunteer and goodwill hours to art initiatives as a juror, a fundraiser, and organizer and as a good friend.

These photos are of the formal presentation to residents of Ontario at the Queen’s Park Legislative Building, Toronto.

The presenter was The Hon Michael Chan, Minister of Citizenship and Culture. The recipients were a group of distinguished volunteers from such areas as medical services, law, law enforcement, seniors issues and the arts (among others). Among the group was the special effects makeup artist from “Skyfall” who has made major contributions to the post retirement care of individuals from Ontario’s acting community.

Tony Batten received the medal for his outstanding and ongoing volunteerism in the visual arts community and in particular for his involvement with a project that has placed seventy-five paintings by contemporary Canadian artists in the Royal Collection at Windsor Castle. This is the largest Canadian presence in that world famous collection.
