Dilettante’s Diary – November 2011
Article by Patrick Donohue: dilettantesdiary.com
I recently found an oasis of calm and beauty on a blustery fall day, thanks to the art work of Tony Batten. This artist… could well be one of Canada’s most distinguished watercolourists. Dilettante’s Diary – Notables of 2009 by Patrick Donohue:
At the end of the year, I like to think back and see if there were any paintings that really wow’d me… The only ones that had any such effect on me this past year were some entries in the Treasures 2009 show of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (Oct 22). Tony Batten’s gorgeous painting of the Scuola Grande di St. Rocco remains vividly in my mind as one of the best depictions of Venice that I’ll ever see… Link to page
